Become a Volunteer Mentor:
A volunteer youth mentor is someone who dedicates their time to support and guide young people, helping them build skills, confidence, and resilience. They provide a positive role model, offer emotional support, and encourage personal growth, often by sharing experiences, teaching life skills, and fostering a safe, trusting environment.
Research shows a positive mentoring relationship can result in both immediate and long-term benefits for students including:
- Higher academic performance
- Increased self-confidence
- Positive attitudes about school
- Stronger relationships with other adults and peers
To Become a volunteer mentor:
- Be at least 21 years old and pass the mandated background checks
- Commit to a minimum of a one-school year frame
- Participate in a training session
- Adhere to the Mentor Program Guidelines
- Meet with their mentee at least once per month on campus, for 30 minutes

Friends of the Mississippi River Bridge is looking for volunteers for 2-hour shifts (between noon to 5pm) to collect waivers for the free pedestrian stroll over the Old Mississippi River Bridge on August 29.
