Boy Scouts - Andrew Jackson Council

Provides youth development programs for boys, young men and young women. Teaches life-skills and promotes personal growth and self-reliance. Involves youth in citizenship participation and provides opportunities for weekend camping, day camps and summer camps.

Located in Cary this agency provides services to Sharkey and Issaquena Counties through outreach programs including emergency assistance, a Dental Clinic with full dental services, home repairs done through a volunteer program, parenting outreach support through classes and home visits, LIFT: a support group for young moms on TANF, Teen Girls Group, The Village: an afterschool and summer program for children, and 2 thrift stores. The focus of all of these programs is to break cycles of poverty through relationships one person at a time.

Community Council

Provides services to homebound frail elderly such as assistance with daily living activities; hot meals; transportation to and from community resources; investigation and resolution of reported abuse of elderly. Provides case management services to help the frail elderly live independent lives.
Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi

Promotes violence-free living and self-sufficiency through community-wide educational programs; and through support to victims of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault. Victim services are confidential and free, and include a 24-hour crisis line, group and individual counseling, case management, therapeutic child care, court advocacy, information and referral, and for those who need it, emergency shelter and transitional housing with food, clothing, transportation and other essentials.
HIV Services, Inc.

Provides full range outpatient clinic services for patients who are HIV positive and/or have AIDS and their families. These services include educational, testing, crisis intervention, counseling and assistance with medication and treatment.

Serve’s as an advocate for the children of the community. The mission is to improve the lives of children by providing supportive services to families through preventive strategies to preserve and improve the quality of family life. They aspire to foster a happy and productive life for each child and are committed to educating the community on child abuse and neglect. The CAP Center offers the following programs: CASA, Family Violence Prevention, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Parenting Education, Individual Mentoring for K-8, and Mentoring Teens girls and boys 13-17, Caretaker Training for Teens, Safesitter Certification for ages 10-12; Parenting Aide and Life Skills Program.
