April was indeed a busy month for United Way. As National Volunteer Month, we paused to thank the almost 800 individuals who give of their time to support United Way annually. The 12^th Annual Day of Caring was a great success and the volunteer support was phenomenal.

In the next few weeks the office will take on a new look…the 2008 Campaign look. We have an opportunity to work with yet another group of volunteers…the 2008 Campaign Cabinet. We have spent the last four months planning and recruiting volunteers for this very important task and now the meetings will begin. The first campaign cabinet meeting will take place on May 5^th. We look forward to working with Don Jarratt and his fantastic campaign cabinet. The 2008 theme is “UNITED We Change Lives”.

We encourage you to tell others about your volunteer experience with United Way. Encourage them to visit our website www.unitedwayvicksburg.org and let us know how they would like to get involved and support the work of the community.

Teen HELP

(Helping Every Life to Progress)

Teen Help is a student volunteer program sponsored by United Way. This year the group consists of 50+ students from all local public, private, and parochial schools in the community. The group meets once a month; all meetings begin at 5:00 pm and conclude at 6:15 pm. The 2007-2008 officers are: President – Amanda McDaniel, Vice-President – Christopher Hood, Secretary – Melanie Smith, Treasurer – Molly Beth Jourdan, Project Coordinator – Courtney Johnson, Chaplain – Evann Brown
