EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER PROGRAM

Once a year, Warren County is awarded federal funds through the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.  The Warren County’s EFSP Board of Directors accepts applications from local 501c3 agencies interested in distributing the funds in the Warren County area.  The Board then provides the funding to the chosen agency to supplement emergency housing and utility programs offered to residents of Warren County.

United Way of West Central Mississippi will advertise the availability of funds in the Vicksburg Post.  The advertisement will provide instructions for submitting an application to receive assistance in the following categories:

  • The Rent/Mortgage category is intended to allow agencies to pay a one-month amount of rent or mortgage for qualifying clients. Each household may receive this assistance only once per spending period.
  • The Utilities category is intended to allow agencies to pay a one-month billed amount of a metered or non-metered utility bill for qualifying clients.  Each household may receive this assistance only once per spending period.
