Improving Financial Stability and Independence.

United Way in Action…

Here are just a few examples of United Way’s impact on our community:

  • Through United Way’s partnership with Vicksburg Child and Parent Center, 249 families were served in the Parent Aide/Education Program.  This program helps wean families from receiving public assistance and assists them in developing into self-reliant and self-sufficient family units.
  • 1207 local residents have received emergency basic need services such as food, clothing, medication and school supplies while working to become self-sufficient through The Salvation Army.
  • Christian Volunteer Services, in Port Gibson helped 480 families who were having a crisis and need assistance by providing food, shelter, medical supplies utility assistance, home repairs, transportation and information to help them get back on their feet.
  • Warren County Habitat for Humanity has been able to help 21 low to very low income families become homeowners since 1991.
  • Through the Adult and Family Education Program, at We Care Community Services, 273 families were able to improve their basic skills for job attainment and advancement.  There was also an increase in the competencies of parents to better take care of their children and respond to social potentials.
