Think you don’t matter to the United Way?

Think again . . .

Last year nearly 150 thousand dollars in funding request for critical programs had to be turned down because of a lack of donations . . .

and the needs are growing.

Diane’s story

Diane was in an abusive marriage for five years.  She described her husband as an alcoholic who would periodically go into a rage, throw things, hit her and then put her out of the home so that she would have to sleep in her car.  Her husband was verbally abusive daily and had a tendency to take out his frustrations on her.

She entered Haven House Family Shelter after an incident with her husband.  She set realistic goals for herself and worked hard at accomplishing them, while in the shelter.  Diane got two jobs, saved money and worked on domestic violence issues.

Diane is currently in the process of moving into her own apartment.  She continues to maintain both jobs and plans to use aftercare services offered by Haven House.

26 clients were served by Haven House in 2007 with United Way dollars
